Post-Election Meeting, Racial Literacies, Nov. 29

RACIAL LITERACIES (POST-ELECTION EDITION) – TUES, NOV 29, 12:15-1:45pm TOY LOUNGE (DEY HALL)

We know people have a lot of feelings about the fall-out from the 2016 elections. There are members of our community who are feeling vulnerable, who have experienced harassment based on race/religion/sexuality/gender/abilitiy//political beliefs. We’d like to do a special session of Racial Literacies on Tuesday, November 29, 12:15-1:45pm in Toy Lounge, 4th floor of Dey Hall. Feel free to bring your lunch. We will also have paper and pens and a bag for people to write comments that they’d like to share anonymously with the leadership of UNC Chapel Hill.

We’d especially like to hear from students, both undergraduate and graduate, and to talk about how we can support all of our community members after the election and moving forward post-Jan 20.

If you’d like to send us a message, please write to RacialLiteracies@unc.edu — we’d be happy to add you to the Sakai site that we established, which has a forum that members can share their thoughts and a resources tab that has readings relevant to our goal of talking about all things race and intersectionality.

Sincerely,

Mark Driscoll, Chris Faison, Jennifer Ho, and China Medel – the organizers of the Racial Literacies workshop/seminar
